Reflection

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

The song starts with a request from an earnest seeker to the Divine for deliverance from a life of untruth. This person has understood that the world is nothing but an illusion and that what surrounds him is a lie and he now seeks the ultimate truth. He now feels as if in transition to another world and many questions puzzle him. All he sees around is darkness, deception and hypocrisy and in his heart he knows that he cannot take it anymore. He feels he has gathered enough courage to speak the un-speakable and take the mask off all the pretension. He asks for courage to act on what his heart asks and also seeks surrender in the spirit of St Francis' prayer: “Lord, grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
